# Billing and plans

The Pro price is shown tax-inclusive. What you see is what you pay, with regional
tax already accounted for in the total.

## Launch pilot

During the launch pilot the first 1000 sign-ups get Pro free for a year. You can
also redeem a pilot promo code from the billing page to get the same grant. When a
free-Pro grant ends, the account moves back to free automatically. If you upgrade to
a paid plan before the grant runs out, the remaining time carries over so you are
not billed twice.

## How billing works

Maski bills through Dodo Payments, a merchant of record. Dodo handles tax, VAT and
GST, refunds, and chargebacks on Maski's behalf, and issues your invoices through
its customer portal.

* **Upgrade** from the plan page. Checkout runs through Dodo.
* **Invoices and payment method** live in the Dodo customer portal, linked from your
  account.
* **Cancel** any time from the plan page. Pro stays active until the end of the
  period you already paid for, then the account returns to free.

  Downgrading to free disables custom domains and per-sender rules, and mail on custom
  domains stops. Your aliases and data stay in place, so re-upgrading restores them.
